Spectrophotometers are color measurement instruments used to evaluate color. Spectrophotometers can measure any kind of materials, including liquids, plastics, paint, metal and fabrics, and other products. Spectrophotometer can not only get the exact color value but also can get the reflectance value/figure. The spectral reflectance curve provided by a spectrophotometer is commonly known as the color’s “fingerprint”.

Spectrophotometer Types

D/8 Spectrophotometer

It is the most commonly used spectrophotometer that can measure light reflected at all angles to calculate color measurements that closely match what a human eye would see. They are commonly used for measuring color of textiles, paint and coating, plastics, chemical, hardware, and other highly glossy surfaces.

45/0 Spectrophotometer

This instrument measures light reflected at a fixed angle to the sample, usually 45˚, and can exclude gloss to most closely replicate how the human eye sees color. They are commonly used for measuring color on smooth or matte surfaces. They are commonly used for measuring color of automobile parts, plastic films, packing materials, etc.
